Sussex farmers warned about suspicious phone calls

Farmers across Sussex are being warned about suspicious phone calls that are being reported to police.

On two different occasions farmers (one in the west and one in the east of the county) have been contacted, with the person calling asking for the farmer by name and purporting to be from New Scotland Yard.

They state that they are calling in relation to a serious police enquiry.

When the farmers have asked for the caller’s name, rank and warrant the number the caller has hung up.

On both occasions the caller has withheld their number.

Police have asked farmers to be alert to these types of call and if it seems suspicious ask for more details.
