For the past five years, the Friends of Warnham Nature Reserve have funded and maintained the equipment to transport pictures from the herony to the reserve’s visitor centre.

The theft was discovered after the screen at the visitor centre went blank sometime after 2pm on May 10 and noon the following day.

Said a spokesperson for the Friends: “The screen is only operative for a few hours each day, determined by the time switch. It was assumed that a fault had occurred with the equipment on the far side of the Millpond. But on Saturday 14 May it was discovered that all the ground-level equipment was missing, presumed stolen.”

Among items taken are a large solar panel, a 12 volt battery, a 12v inverter and a 12v timer and in-line switchgear.

If anyone has any information about this theft, please make contact with the Wardens at the Reserve on 01403 256890, or with the Friends on 01403 756238.
