One of the recovered vehicles was found to have had false plates fitted to it.

Police are also advising farmers to keep entrance gates closed to help keep out people asking about old batteries or scrap metal.

They say they are still getting many reports of people driving into farm premises in transit type vans or flatbed trucks asking about old batteries and or scrap metal.

Police say: “To lessen this problem please keep your farm entrance gates closed.”

There is further advice to keep wheelbarrows locked away every evening as these make perfect transport of property to the getaway vehicle.

Police say that outbuildings are still a favourite of the criminal looking for strimmers, chainsaws, hedge cutters and any other type of power tools that can easily be sold on.

“Check the security of these buildings and make a note of their serial numbers.”
