Witness appeal to post office burglary
Police are appealing for witnesses after intruders broke into Hurstpierpoint Post Office and stole cash from the cash machine.
The break-in happened at around 3.30am on Thursday, March 23, Sussex Police said.
The burglars stole a large quantity of cash from the machine inside the post office, in High Street, before making off in a dark coloured vehicle, possibly a BMW according to police.
Detective Sergeant Colin Garman said: “We would like to hear from anyone who saw this burglary or has any information about this. Please get in touch.”
Louise Perry, who works as a stylist at Hair Obsession next door in High Street, said the front window to the post office was smashed when she arrived at work. She said: “I came to work on Thursday morning and there was a fair amount of police outside.
“It was my birthday and I was really worried about what it might be.
“One of my colleagues let me know that it had been a break-in at around midday.
“It was pretty clear beforehand because the window was smashed.
“The post office reopened on Tuesday at 9.15am.”
