Police are trying to identify a woman who fraudulently tried to take out a contract on a laptop.

On Thursday (May 18), staff at iStore in County Mall, Crawley, contacted police to say that a woman had used false details to try and take out a contract on a laptop worth £2,000, according to police.

Officers said that when staff started to carry out the necessary background checks they realised the details given by the woman were false and identified that she had attempted to make similar transactions on other branches of the store.

The woman left the shop and made off from staff before her true identity could be ascertained, police said.

A police spokesman said: “The suspect is described as white, aged approximately 40, of medium build, with brown curly hair. She wore a light coloured top.”

Anyone who recognises the woman should contact police online or call 101 quoting serial 547 of 18/05. Alternatively you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously via https://crimestoppers-uk.org/ or call 0800 555 111.
