Daughter raises money for charity by cutting 17 inch locks

Carol Brown and the team at Serenity Hair, in The Street, offered their special charity trim services to support the efforts of Lyndsey Lee, 33.

She managed to raise a staggering £1,047.18 for Beating Bowel Cancer by having 17in of her beloved locks looped off.

Lyndsey said she had been inspired to do the fund-raiser after seeing her dad, David, battle against cancer.

She said: “In September of last year my dad was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer.

“He had a large tumour in his bowel that he had removed. But the cancer spread to his liver.

“He has only just finished all the chemotherapy and is waiting for his results.

“I just felt that I wanted to do something to show him that I was behind him and supporting him in whatever way I can.”

Lyndsey, of North Bersted, said she was ‘overwhelmed’ by all the help she received.

“I was quite nervous getting my hair cut off but it went really well,” she added.

The hair was donated to The Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for children who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
