Digger badly damaged after bursting into flames in Loxwood

A five-tonne digger has been badly damaged after the vehicle caught fire in Loxwood this afternoon (Tuesday March 8).

Firefighters reported that the agricultural digger has been ‘75 per cent damaged’ by flames after the blaze in Walthurst Lane.

A four-wheel drive vehicle from Horsham and fire engine from Billingshurst were called to the incident just before 2.30pm.

Crews used the smaller vehicle’s hose reel, a carbon dioxide entinguisher and firefighting backpack to tackle the flames.

No injuries have been reported.

The blaze is believed to have started accidentally.
