District News: Ninfield & Hooe - April 4

News from Ninfield & Hooe

NINFIELD VILLAGE SOCIETY: Although the numbers of people attending were fewer than had been hoped the meeting was most productive. A suggestion by Peter may result in news about the Society appearing more frequently, Mark was most helpful when a particular event was mentioned and David offered to make enquiries about the involvement of young people, all being related to the Society.

The chairman was most grateful for the support and their contributions. More news when the details are finalised.

MUSICAL EVENT: The welcome was warm last Saturday afternoon when the Brighton Revue Company entertained. The invited audience were greeted with a sherry or soft drink and found seats. There were many villagers present all of whom knew they were going to enjoy themselves.

Everyone's glass was refilled and the curtain raised. The show was truly splendid from the opening Music Hall Medley to the Last Choruses.

The cast Jenny Coulston, Paul Downing, Samantha Hughes and David Rummelle were superb. Jenny sang the Honeysuckle song, Samantha was a first class Burlington Bertie, a pantomime dame was wonderfully portrayed by David, and Paul displayed enviable agility by skipping whilst singing the "I love me" song. There was nothing to choose between the cast, they were all excellent. Their audience left them in no doubt that the show had been thoroughly enjoyed and the cast were enthusiastically applauded.

The Carnival Committee ladies had organised tea with delicious sandwiches, sausage rolls and an irresistible selection of cakes. Cups of tea were served by the young daughters of committee members and they did it beautifully.
