Driver arrested after West Sussex corn crash
A tractor towing a trailer loaded with sweetcorn was heading north along the B2145 when it hit a home in Hunston, near Chichester, rupturing a gas main.
“No one was hurt but as a precaution due to leaking gas, emergency services evacuated homes within 200 metres of the scene,” said a spokeswoman from Sussex Police.

Hide AdThis included homes in Orchard Side, St Leodegar’s Way, High Trees, Westlands Road, Uphill Way, Meadow Close, Little Boultons and part of the B2145 Heath Close.
The B2145 through Hunston was closed to traffic while incident was dealt with. The scene was eventually cleared at 5.50pm.
A 26-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of driving without due care and attention and released on bail until September 25.
