Police have warned drivers to take car on the roads following a night of high winds and heavy rain.

Since midnight, (Thursday January 15), officers have received reports of more than 20 incidents involving trees, and some street furniture, obstructing roads, mainly in rural areas.

There were also reports of flooding on some roads.

A spokesman confirmed there had been no reports of serious crashes involving injury so far.

The spokesman added: “Please continue to take extra care out there this morning, look out for road obstructions and water and slow down whenever necessary.”

West Sussex Fire and Rescue said there had been no weather-related calls in Crawley.
