A nursery chain has celebrated two ‘Good’ Ofsted reports.
The inspectorate gave the Willow Tree pre-schools at Langley Green Centre, Langley Green, and Ifield Community Centre, Dobbins Place, Ifield, its second highest rating of four.
Christine O’Dwyer, 58, of Langley Green, the chain’s lead manager, was ‘very pleased’ with the reports.
She said: “It’s quite hard to reach a ‘Good’ these days so we are really pleased.”
The report on the Ifield site stated: “Staff provide children with a broad range of activities that complement all areas of learning and development.
“Children are able to explore their environment freely. They develop their independence because they choose what they would like to do.”
Christine said staff were pleased to see their efforts to promote independence highlighted in the report.
The report on the Langley Green pre-school stated: “Staff are skilled at supporting young children’s emerging language and communication skills throughout the daily routine.
“Staff support children who speak English as an additional language well. For example, key words used by children are obtained on entry and staff refer to these during the day.”
Christine said: “I’m particularly pleased about that, the staff work very hard.”
She said her Langley Green staff celebrated pupils’ different cultures.
She added supporting children’s communication skills was ‘very important’ if English was not their mother tongue.
Ofsted published the Ifield report on February 21 and the Langley Green report on January 30.
