Electrics fire Sidley

A crew from Bexhill community fire station responded to an emergency call from the Sidley home at 10am on Sunday but the problem was dealt with by the time the appliance arrived.

"It was caused by water entering the electrics from a long pipe," commented fire officer Graham Fletcher.

"It was either behind the washing machine or the drier so the owner didn't know it was happening - the water was just running into the electric socket - and shorted the plug socket out."

The resident turned off the electrical supply and so the crew was needed to carry out inspection only.
