Emergency services rescue man trapped under tree near Pulborough – in pictures

Emergency services have rescued a man trapped under a fallen tree near Pulborough.

The fire service said crews were called to an area off the A283 Stopham Road near Pulborough at 11.43am this morning to reports of an individual trapped under a fallen tree.

A spokesman added: “Joint Fire Control mobilised the Technical Rescue Unit along with fire engines from Storrington and Arundel to the scene, as well as a number of senior officers to co-ordinate the rescue.

“Upon arrival they found an adult male trapped under a large log, and worked alongside paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service to help free the individual.”

The man, who the ambulance service said suffered a leg injury, was left in the care of paramedics.

The fire service said the last crew left the scene shortly before 1.30pm.

An ambulance service spokesman added: “We were called at approximately 11.40am today to reports a person had been injured by a tree. Ambulance crews including our Hazardous Area Response Team attended and were joined at the scene by the air ambulance service.

“The person was assessed and treated for a leg injury before being taken to Worthing Hospital by road.”
