Concerns over tree felling and footpath restrictions in Tilgate Forest which are part of a golf course’s improvement works will be heard at a residents’ meeting.
The Tilgate Forum meeting will take place in Shackleton Road Community Centre, Tilgate, at 7pm today (Thursday February 4).
Secretary Sylvia Handy said Tilgate Golf Centre’s manager would explain the works at the public meeting.
She said: “We are expecting quite a few concerned residents to come.
“An important one was loss of trees possibly resulting in loss of habitat for wildlife and also disagreements about footpaths.
“There’s been some arguments between dog walkers and golfers and some people are saying there are footpaths which are gone or they are not allowed to use now.”
A statement from the golf course stated trees would be thinned to “healthy future growth andto improve aesthetics around the course”.
It added: “Once operations are underway you may see operators using chainsaws sand harvesting machines.
“Please continue to enjoy the course and the surrounding area throughout this period however please obey all warning signs and restrictions that you see, they are there for your safety and that of the course staff and harvesting operations.”
