John has just finished drilling ten acres of wild grass mixture for a neighbour.The land is going into a higher entry level environmental scheme and the grass sown is varieties that will encourage insects and beetles.

He is also going to drill two acres of wild flower mixture for him. John is amazed at the cost of the seed.

Two tiny one kilo packets at over a hundred pounds each. The wild flower mixture will grow buttercups. daisy, cornflower, poppies and a host of flowers that John has been tempted to eradicate from our grass fields for the past twenty five years.

But there is an ulterior motive. The grasses and flowers will attract insects and beetles which will attract and encourage all sorts of birds. Some of them game. Conservation

and field sports living alongside each other.
