Evening of festive cheer in Rose Green

Residents have been invited to enjoy a festive evening in Rose Green.

The area's third carol sing-a-long around a Christmas tree is taking place on December 17.

The now annual occasion has grown in popularity since it was started in 2006 to co-incide with the installation of the first civic Christmas tree.

The latest six-metre high tree has recently been put in place outside the Co-op Welcome store at the junction of Nyetimber Lane and Gossamer Lane.

It will be the focal point for the evening, backed by the store, with local uniformed youth groups joining the Salvation Army Band and its selection of seasonal music. The event will start at 6.30pm.

Co-ordinator Molly Myers said: "Even though it is often a bit chilly, residents turn out in force, showing that the community do value and enjoy traditional events."
