A community centre in Crawley has been closed after a large oak tree fell on it during high winds.
The centre, in Shackleton Road, Tilgate, suffered significant damage after the tree came down on Sunday night (February 22), said a spokesman for Crawley Borough Council.
He added: “Thankfully nobody was hurt in the incident but there has been significant damage caused to the small hall.
“County tree surgeons have started work on removing the tree but, due to its size, this is likely to take three days to complete.
“The centre will need to remain closed until this work has been completed and a structural survey undertaken.”
