Family '˜on target' to raise cash for Sonny

Crawley Rugby Club hosted a rugby festival over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend to raise cash for three-year-old Sonny Hamilton, who's dream is to be able to walk.

Sonny was born prematurely with cerebral palsy, which affects his ability to sit and walk.

He needs a selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) operation and his family are trying to raise £80,000 to get him this by next year.

His mum, Katie Finkle, 26, of Holman Close, Crawley, said: “Cash is currently being counted but I have been told we are on target to beat last year’s amount of £30,000.

“We will know by next week how much was raised. I am so excited to find out. At the moment we have raised £32,000.

“We also had a celebrity football match in Southampton on Friday and we are waiting to hear how much was raised here too.”
