Fatal collision on A24 near Southwater

A 77-year old man from Worthing has died after his blue Citroen left the A24 near Pollards Hill roundabout, Southwater, at around 8.05am this (Friday April 15) morning and collided with a tree, according to a police statement.

The southbound carriageway was closed until around 12.45pm while the scene was investigated.

The man, who was the only casualty, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and died shortly afterwards.

Anyone who saw the incident, or noticed the car being driven beforehand, is asked to email [email protected] or phone 101, quoting Operation Purchase.

The coroner has been informed.
