Festival charity was refused council licence

Ifield-based Outreach 3 Way - which supports adults with learning difficulties – managed to raise £250-£300, which festival chairman Geoff Allen described as “a little disappointing”.

Mr Allen added: “But this was due to the council not allowing them a street collection licence. Also they have very few volunteers to help in the places they were able to collect.

“However, they were very pleased with what they had collected.”

A council spokesman said: “The council has a policy of one charity collecting at a time. Another charity, Leonard Cheshire Disability, had already booked this date two years earlier.”

The festival team will be holding its AGM at the Hawth at 7.45pm on Tuesday November 12, where planning will start on next year’s event.

All are welcome to attend.

Next year’s chosen charity will be the Sussex,Surrey and Kent Air Ambulance.
