Flooding fears hit planners

FEARS that climate change and rising sea levels could lead to increased flooding in and around Littlehampton and Arundel have delayed Arun's planning blueprint for the future.

Major housing and business developments, including one earmarked for the Travis Perkins site at Pier Road, Littlehampton, and new roads such as a Lyminster bypass, are among schemes which will need to have better protection from the threat of flooding.

The Environment Agency was not satisfied that Arun's plan '” known as the local development framework (LDF) '” included enough detail on addressing the increased flood risk.
