Foggy and Whit help St Barnabas

Two legends from the world of motorsport are revving up support for St Barnabas House in Worthing.

As part of Foggy and Whit: Givin’ It Gas, the 2011 UK chat show tour, which visits Worthing’s Pavilion Theatre on Wednesday, May 11, four-times World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty and his good friend and former British champion James Whitham have committed to raising funds for the cause.

St Barnabas is a charity whose aim is to provide high-quality specialist palliative care both within the hospice and in the comfort of patients’ homes, treating adults with advanced progressive life-limiting illnesses.

The top prize on offer is a flight on James’ private plane. There will also be an opportunity to win selected Carl Fogarty Red Torpedo merchandise, an overnight stay in a top hotel and a Ducati DVD.

Carl said: “The people behind St Barnabas House do some amazing work and we couldn’t think of a better cause to get involved with. Our aim is to raise as much money as we possibly can through the charity raffle and hopefully highlight the charity’s good deeds in the process.

“Whit and I are really looking forward to coming to Worthing as part of our 2011 tour. The last one we did seemed to go down a storm, and this should be even bigger and better.”

Neil Francis, community fundraising officer from St Barnabas House said: “We’re really pleased that Carl and his team chose to support us. We hope the night is a real success and obviously the more people who support the raffle, the better.

“Patients are never charged for their care. It costs nearly £4 million each year to run the hospice and only a small part of these costs are state funded. This means that the majority of the money has to be raised through voluntary donations from local communities within the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas.”

On-stage chat and questions will last around two hours, followed by the charity prize draw and a chance for autographs from Carl and James. More details on www.foggyandwhit.co.uk.
