Free fun day of music

West Chiltington’s Music in the Marquee offers a free and fun day of music and song for all ages and tastes (Sunday, July 17, 2pm till 8pm)

Spokeswoman Barbara Nicholson said: “Music in the Marquee is fast becoming an annual event held in the marquee on the West Chiltington recreation ground behind the village hall on Mill Road.

“The event is the brainchild of Bruce Fryer who runs our Post Office Stores and the goodwill of the Flower Show who offered  the marquee for free on the Sunday after the flower show was over.

“There is an amazing amount of musical talent in the area who are happily performing free and for fun.  This year we are highlighting The WC Community School Choir performing extracts from a new musical, The Band of Three, Tom Bradley, Fixed Wheel, One Day Tuesday, The Occasions, Sam Hoadley Band and Alchemy, performing rock, pop, jazz and folk. We are always keen to encourage performers and once again this year  there will be an open mic stage.”

If you’d like to book a short spot phone Bruce Fryer on  01798.813209  or Barbara Nicholson 01798.815366.

“Come and join us, bring a picnic and stay a while or just pop in to see what’s going on.  Everyone’s welcome.”
