Fundraiser will pay for Crawley Scout activities

A CRAWLEY Scout group will be packing bags of shopping to help raise money for future activities.

The 1st Crawley Scouts has recently reconditioned, refitted and redecorated its headquarters in Oak Road, Southgate, but is now lacking in funds to help with planned activities for the group.

The group will be packing customers’ bags at Marks and Spencers in Queensway, town centre, between 10am and 3pm on Saturday (April 28).

Andy Hibberd, troop leader of 1st Crawley Scouts, said: “We will be buying some well-needed equipment and also using some of the money for several camps and hikes which go towards the Chief Scouts Gold Award. “

Some of the planned activities include fencing, archery, canoeing, fire making and photography.

1st Crawley Scouts is also looking for adult volunteers to help with Beavers (6 to 8 years), Cubs (8 to 10½ years) and Scouts (10½ to 14½ years).
