Gatwick worst London airport for delays, CAA reveals

Gatwick had the worst average flight delays of all London airports, a Civil Aviation Authority report has revealed.

The latest statistics showed its flights were 16.7minutes late on average in December 2015.

London City had the best average in the capital with 9.5minutes and Heathrow was second at 10.7minutes.

Across the UK, only Aberdeen had worst delays than Gatwick with an average flight delay of 17 minutes.

A Gatwick spokesman said: “Gatwick has more flights to Europe than any UK airport and can therefore be impacted disproportionately by events affecting European airspace.

“Improving our performance in this area is a priority and we continue to work very closely with all airlines and other partners to ensure passengers are provided with the best experience that can be delivered.”
