On Friday, March 18 from 9am to 1pm, the centre will be hosting The Great Hailsham Sport Relief Bake Off. Inspired by the popular BBC 1 TV show, entrants will have to bake and decorate twelve identical cupcakes. A prize will be awarded to the winning baker and the cakes will be available to purchase, with all proceeds going to Sport Relief.

From 10:30am to 11:30am, the centre will be running a Hoopaholics class, where people can try out a fun new way of working up a sweat.

From 11am to 12:30pm there will be a Spinathon for those who want to find out how many miles they can cycle in an hour.

Places for the Hoopaholics class and the Spinathon must be reserved in advanced by phoning the centre.

Rounding off the day, young people will be able to come along to the Sport Relief Splashdance. Running from 6.30pm until 8pm, games and competitions will take place throughout the evening, with floats and large inflatables available in the pool and lively music playing.

“We are delighted to be doing our part to get local people involved with raising money and awareness for Sport Relief,” said Nicole White, Freedom Leisure Centre manager.

“With the more traditional activities such as indoor cycling and swimming to the more unusual classes such as hula hooping and Tomboogie sessions, there will be something for everyone.”

Swimathons will also be held on Saturday, March 19 from 6pm to 8pm and Sunday, March 20 from 4pm to 6pm. Participants can enter individually or as a team via the Sport Relief website. People are encouraged to wear something red and make a donation to Sport Relief on the day.
