Green light for 70 new homes

A CONTROVERSIAL proposal to build new homes on a greenfield site at Woodside Farm, Hailsham, has finally been given the go-ahead by Wealden planners and councillors.

Stringent conditions have been imposed.

The 2.28 hectare site is currently pasture land surrounded by trees and hedges, many of which have tree preservation orders.

It will house 70 new homes ranging from one bedroomed flats to four bedroomed houses but must provide at least 30 per cent 'affordable' homes.

Four suggested housing association partners have been recommended.
