Greg Barker visits Battle Bake House

VOTED Business of The Year at the Bexhill Achievers Awards earlier this month, received a visit from local MP Greg Barker last week.

After talking to proprietor Kate Kent about how she has successfully developed her business Greg toured the premises and kitchens to see for himself how Kates delicious cakes and biscuits are made.

Winning the award came as a big surprise to Kate as she really didn't think they would, due to the stiff competition they were up against. She said: "I was delighted to win and it has made a difference to us, we've had a lot more recognition and people know who we are now."

Kate makes all the recipes herself and ensures her range of cakes and biscuits contain only fresh, natural ingredients.

Sixty of Sainsbury's top stores nationwide are to stock some of the range, although not at the Bexhill store.

Mr Barker said: "Now Battle Bake House have won an Achievers Award what would be really great is if more local people had the opportunity to buy their products here in Bexhill.

"I hope that all the retailers out there will think of ways to make these fantastic products more available to local people who I am sure will want to taste them. This is a wonderful Bexhill success story which is clearly going from strength to strength."
