Hastings and District Association of Wrens

THE chairman welcomed 14 members to the November meeting, which sadly was the last formal one as a branch of the Association. She read a letter from headquarters acknowledging the closure of the branch.

We shall be meeting on Tuesday, December 14, for a Christmas lunch, and then not again until we meet informally at the Northern Hotel, Sea Road, Bexhill, at 10.30am on Thursday, February 3, 2011. If any ex-Wrens would like to come along, they would be most welcome.

Various other matters were then discussed, and it was decided to continue with the Remembrance Day wreath, paying for it with individual donations. The chairman enquired whether anyone would be taking part in the 1066 Parade in Hastings, and she hoped that all those going to the 90th anniversary of the Women’s Royal Naval Service had received their tickets by now. We then had our tea-break, which was a wonderful surprise as the president and chairman had made some delicious cakes which they brought as a last treat for us all. After this, several members recounted memories of their time in the Wrens, until it was time for our last raffle and the closure of the meeting.
