‘Health risk’ fears over fast food rubbish left on Pulborough street

Photographs show some of the bags of rubbish left on the street outside the new Domino’s pizza outlet have split, causing waste to spill onto the pavement.

Erica Gayler, who drives through the village each morning on her commute, said: “Not only is this unsightly, it is a health risk.

“You do not have to look too closely at the bags to see that the contents include recyclable material - tins, cardboard, etc.

“The bags contain food waste which will be attracting vermin - if you look closely at the photo you will see food waste spilling out of a broken bag and spilling out onto the pavement.”

The fast food store opened in Pulborough earlier this month.

Erica added that she initially thought the problem was a ‘one-off’ as the store is new to the village, but explained the problem has persisted.

She said: “The display was there when I drove past at 7.30am this morning (Thursday). I understand from colleagues it was still there at 8.20am at least.

“There appeared to be no staff in the building and so I am assuming that the waste had been left outside all night.”

A number of villagers have contacted the County Times, with many complaining about the impact the outlet has had on the road as well as the rubbish.

Domino’s has been approached for comment.
