Measures have been put in place to avoid a town centre restaurant’s bins from overflowing and ‘attracting vermin’.
An Environmental Health Officer visited Turtle Bay in Crawley High Street after a reader took this photograph of its bins on Monday (August 31).
The reader said the overflowing waste food was disgusting and attracted rats and other vermin to the area near the Morrisons car park entrance in Pegler Way.
He said in an email: “Where the public are shopping for their food I think all areas must be managed efficiently and effectively with a high regard to public and employee health and safety.”
A spokesman for Crawley Borough Council said: “The bin area is now clear.
“There was an issue over the bank holiday weekend when a collection lorry was unable to access the bin area.
“Alternative access arrangements are now in place to avoid this happening again.”
