The first four-week course on Mondays was so popular that more classes were organised to follow on, with the final ‘graduates’ about to pass out. And now a one-session Cooking with Dad, but also open to uncles and grand-dads, is planned for next month, too.

The Organic Cookery School has run the courses in partnership with the community centre and the People’s Health Trust, and with funding from the Health Lottery Fund.

Parents attending the Cooking for Baby course were taken through four, 90-minute hands-on sessions covering weaning, your baby’s changing nutritional needs, how to make delicious home-made fruit and vegetable purées and much more.

They were encouraged to try out recipes with other parents, let baby taste them and take a batch home for their freezer.

All families completing the course were given a goody bag. The Cooking with Dad course is aimed at dads, grand-dads and uncles, to come along to the community centre, in Foxwood Avenue, with a child aged two-and-a-half-years and over.

Together, they will make a delicious cheese, leek and potato pie.

Two alternative sessions will be beld on Saturday, August 10, from 10am to 11.30am or from 12.15pm to 1.45pm.

Although the course is free, booking is essential, and parents are invited to make a voluntary contribution towards the ingredients they use on the day. To book a place on the course, email office@angmering communitycentre.org.uk or call 01903 773982.

Alternatively, pick up a booking form from the community centre office.
