Help for long-term jobless

A NEW organisation has been set up in Newhaven to help the long-term unemployed get back to work.

The Newhaven Community Employment Partnership (NewCEP) aims to find jobs for those in Newhaven, Seaford and Peacehaven who have difficulty finding work, such as mothers, the under 25s, the over 55s and the disabled.

Some local firms have difficulty retaining and recruiting staff, said NewCEP employment coordinator, Amber Wells.

However, there are many long-term unemployed people who, with the right help and training, could be a useful and loyal addition to a workforce.

We will partner local businesses and provide a professional service, matching their needs with the needs of those wishing to return to work.

The scheme, paid for by the European Social Fund, is supported by the Newhaven Community Development Association (NCDA).
