Help with walking bus

LITTLE Common School is appealing for volunteers to help its pupils put their best foot forward on their way to and from lessons.

The school’s “walking bus” has been running for the last seven years and consists of a group of adults and children who meet each morning in Broad Oak Park before making their way to school.

The bus has grown over recent years, and now needs more help if it is to continue to run.

Headteacher Linda Appleby said: “The main aim is to minimise pollution and reduce the parking issues around our school. Our neighbours are so kind to tolerate the increased traffic over the years, as the sheer size of our school means that so many are trying to reach us by car.

“We desperately need more volunteers to walk with the pupils, so that we can offer this service to all the families who wish to use it.”

Adults are needed who can commit to walking with the bus regularly either before or after school for a day each week.

Mrs Appleby said: “We would be delighted to hear from anyone who could offer us regular help. It would be great for our children to get to know more members of our community and I am certain that anyone would enjoy spending time with our delightful pupils.”
