A couple from Horley has helped raise £1,000 for a charity which offers a helpline to families going through difficulties.
When Susan Brown’s husband became Master of the Masonic Lodge she was tasked, as the Master’s Lady, to find a local charity for them to support.
She had heard of the work done by Surrey-based charity FamilyLine for families and decided to hold a fundraising inner dance. They raised £1,000 through holding raffles and a tombola.
Susan said: “I am over the moon handing over this cheque. FamilyLine is a wonderful family orientated charity who do so much and to all the volunteers I wish to say a big thank you for what you have done for so many.”
FamilyLine is a small charity that offers a free and confidential helpline to anyone concerned about their family.
This could be to do with issues around children’s behaviour, school problems, or personal matters such as stress or depression.
Chairman of FamilyLine Peter Surge said: “We were delighted Susan and Tony took the time to visit the FamilyLine office, meet volunteers and understand the service they have so generously supported.”
The charity has 38 volunteers and helps around 4,000 families each year.
The donation will fund the charity’s helpline for one week.
