The long-standing event has grown to be one of the largest in the area as crowds flock to Horley from across the region. This year, visitors will also benefit from free parking throughout the day in Horley’s car parks.

St George and his dragon are due to arrive at 12pm and children will be able to have their photograph taken with him. There is also a surprise which Horley Association of Traders will not reveal until the day.

There will be live bands playing, over 40 stalls and weather permitting, the highly popular PuppetKru, from the town’s Anglican churches, will be performing throughout the day on Albert Road by Horley’s Constitutional Club.

The line-up includes Too Far Gone at 10am, Kram at 11am, the announcement of the children’s colouring competition winners at 11.45am and In Choir at 12.15pm.

Horley butcher Chris White said: “A huge effort has gone into this year’s St George’s Day, it promises to be a wonderful occasion for everyone. We have a wide selection of stalls this year selling jewellery, scarves, children’s clothes, books, arts and crafts. A big thank you to everyone involved.”

For children, there will be face painting, giant bouncy castles in the end car park and Professor Twist will be a balloon sculptor for the day.

HATs are still looking for volunteers to help on the day, call Caroline Hancock on 0775767253 for more details.
