Horse seen grazing on A23 collides with car

A horse collided with a car after it was seen grazing in the A23's central reservation.

Police closed the northbound carriageway near Betts Way in Crawley at 6.50am today (Tuesday May 17).

A spokesman said: “The horse was involved in a minor collision with a car and bolted. Traffic was delayed while police officers and PCSOs, assisted by a local horse rescue organisation and a veterinary surgeon, made efforts to capture the animal and transport it to safety.

“The horse was recovered at 9.14am and placed in a field at Poles Lane , where it was attended by the vet and an RSPCA inspector.”
