A spokesman for the fire service said the investigation team had established the blaze was started by an electrical fault in one of the ambulances.

“Crews are still looking at how it spread so quickly,” the spokesman added.

Firefighters extinguished the flames by 3.30pm. No-one was injured.

A patient was removed from one of the ambulances moments before it was engulfed in flames.
