Parking charges at Crawley Hospital have been set at a maximum of £5.
Crawley Borough Council confirmed the lower tariff after concerns were raised patients were in danger of being landed with £25 bills if their treatment kept them at the hospital all day.
Members of the West Crawley County Local Committee discussed the matter at a meeting in March and pledged to write to the council to ensure procedures were in place to protect patients.
A council spokesman said signs bearing the old tariff had been removed and added: “The maximum parking charge at the hospital is now £5. We would never set a tariff of £25.
“The NHS has told us that patients appear to be happy with the new parking arrangements as ‘quite a few of them have already mentioned that they can now park easily.”
