Firefighters were called to deal with a blaze which left a house in Crawley badly damaged.
Emergency services were called to Ryelands, Gossops Green, at 11.39am on Monday (April 6).
A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said a third of the home’s first floor was destroyed by fire and all of it damaged by smoke.
The three crews, two from Crawley, one from Horley, used a high pressure hose, two sets of breathing apparatus and two hose jets to put it out.
Paramedics treated people for possible smoke inhalation, the spokesman said.
A police spokesman said the fire was not being treated as suspicious.
