Hundreds turn out for Remembrance service

Hundreds of people lined the High Street as Crawley honoured the servicemen and women who have given their lives for their country in conflicts over the years.

The church and churchyard at St John’s were packed on Sunday (November 8) with the very old and the very young paying their respects.

After observing an immaculate silence at 11am, the service was piped out to those in the churchyard and then wreaths were laid on the war memorial.

As well as representatives from all the armed forces, dozens upon dozens of cubs, scouts, guides and brownies did their packs proud, while cadets turned out to march alongside the veterans.

Before the parade marched along the High Street, people were amazed to see a group of around 30 motorbikers roar their way along the road, before parking up and carrying their wreath into the churchyard to join the service.
