Hurstpierpoint murder- two jailed
TWO men have been sentenced to a total of 40 years in prison by a Lewes Crown Court in relation to a Hurstpierpoint murder.
James Howard Smith (26) of Willow Close, Hurstpierpoint and Craig Alexander Clarke (32), of Albany Road, West Green, Crawley were each given 20 year prison sentences.
Both men were found guilty by twelve jurors of the murder of George Edward Alfred Deer at his home in Willow Gardens, Hurstpierpoint on March 17 2007.
The judge stated this was a premeditated attack and he did not accept the mitigating circumstances put forward to him.
The trial lasted six weeks.
