UK Older Peoples Day Celebration: Wednesday 22 October 2-4pm a Cream Tea in The Five Villages House. The Guest Speaker is Daliea Redman who is a qualified instructor in chair based exercises.Charlotte will be playing a musical medley. The afternoon is planned by The Five Villages Home Association. The Horticultural Society: Friday 24 October Icklesham Horticultural Society A.G.M.in the Memorial Hall starting at 7pm. The main agenda items are (i)Should we continue holding the Summer Show with the Fete? (ii)Should we continue with the Wealden Brass Band? The Society really values its members opinions so please make every effort to attend.

Coffee Morning: The Church Charity Family Support has a coffee morning on Saturday 25 October 10.30am - 12noon in the Memorial Hall. There’s cakes,mugs,Christmas Cards and a Bring and Buy.

Village Quiz Night: Saturday 25 0ctober 7.30 in the Memorial Hall raising funds for our Church. £2.50 per person. Bring your own food and drink.

Mini Beer Festival: At the Queen’s Head from Thursday 29 October to Sunday 2 November. Local Real Ales and Live Music every day.

Pantomime Auditions: The next Icklesham Players production will be the panto. “The Sleeping Beauty Of Icklesham”will be performed in February 2015. Auditions are planned for Sunday 2 November at 3pm in the Memorial Hall. Apart from the Major parts there are many smaller ones.Something for anybody who wants to get involved - men and boys -ladies and girls.If you cannot make that date contact Nicky Harris on 01424 812996 and she will organise a second audition.

Police Priorities: Our current PCSO (police Community Support Officer) Sharon Eldridge, has asked that we tell her what Icklesham’s policing priorities should be. Country Lanes and Kamikazes: Nobody is surprised to hear a recent report that country lanes have a higher death and injury rate than Motorways. Every lane that leaves the A259 is full of risks - sharp blind bends, tall thick hedges, walkers often with unpredictable dogs, big broad horses, tractors and trailers, and especially in the summer drivers who are not familiar with the roads. So all lane users need to be aware. It is frightening how many people cross the main road near the traffic light controlled crossing but ignore that obvious safe way. These potential kamikazes include every age group- male and female alike.
