Icklesham Fete scores a bullseye

RYE Labour candidate Sarah Owen joined hundreds of other people who attended Icklesham’s Summer Fete.

The popular event helped raise funds for the sports pavilion and other good causes, like Mallydams, Rye and District Lions and Pett Boat Rescue.

Sarah and other fete goers also took part in archery with the talented Tom Firth.

Tom didn’t take up archery until he was 55, but by the time he was 59, her was ranked 12 in the UK and was selected to play for England.

Tom is giving tuition throughout the summer for £10 for a two hour session, to raise funds for All Saints and St Nicholas Church tower restoration.

Sarah said: “One of the great things about our local towns and villages is the range of events they put on for the community. It was fantastic fun for all.

“Congratulations to all the organisers and volunteers. A special thanks to Tom Firth, for giving me a quick archery lesson and allowing me to do my best Katniss Everdeen impression.”
