Inspiring the next generation of scientists

Young people will learn about the latest innovations in science, technology, engineering and maths when STEMfest returns.

STEMfest 2014 promises to be bigger and better than ever before – and for the first time will include events specifically aimed at primary school pupils.

The event is organised by STEM Sussex, an outreach department from the University of Brighton, in partnership with Crawley Borough Council and Central Sussex College.

A wide range of fun and exciting hands-on activities will be provided by local companies and other organisations.

It will take place in schools, colleges and clubs throughout the community during May and June in an aim is to inspire the next generation to study and build careers in STEM.

Councillor Bob Lanzer, Cabinet member for Planning and Economic Development, said: “STEMfest provides an excellent way for young people to learn through exciting activities while introducing them to different education providers and businesses.

“The festival has gone from strength to strength and I sincerely hope this continues in future years.”
