It's a gold for Felpham dog

Dog owner Sue Weller struck gold in Felpham with her well-trained pet.

Sue, with her dog, Teasle, was the only entry from Bognor Regis and District Dog Training Club for the Kennel Club good citizen gold award.

The pair easily passed and earned a high commendation from the judge, John Paice.

The scheme is promoted by the Kennel Club to provide handlers with a greater knowledge and understanding of their canine companion.

Eleven dogs and handlers also successfully entered for its silver award. Ten came from the Bognor club. The other was a visitor from the Oving Dog Training Club.

The successes were: Judy Barnett with Taryn (Siberian husky); Jo Rogerson with Sassy (German shepherd dog); Linda Farr with Toddy (border collie); Janet Baldwin with Mollie (rottweiler); Chrissie Cheshire with Fergal (border collie); Linda Thomson with Anna (red setter); Caroline Harvey with Stanley (shih tsu); Susan Ryder with Maya (Newfoundland); Valerie Blissitt with Kiyo (malamute); Alison Goulding with Marnie (Tibetan terrier) and Oving's Alison Jones with Holly (German shepherd dog).

Mr Paice commented on the high standard of training at the Bognor club which led to the superb success rate.

It meets Thursday and Friday evenings at Felpham Memorial Village Hall.
