They offer emotional support which helps parents find ways to manage and resolve problems.

This direct support involves confidential listening, establishing routines, modelling good parenting, encouraging development and providing opportunities for outings and treats.

Practical help also enables parents to get to appointments, do the shopping, cooking and making the home safe.

Home-Start arranges outreach and family groups so parents can get out, meet others and become more involved in the community.

This informal access to parenting advice and skills development continues to change the lives of many families around the area, with many going on to training, employment and volunteering.

Money raised from today’s sale at St. John’s the Evangelist Church Hall will help fund the work of this important and valuable voluntary service in our community.
