Drivers have been advised there will be lane closures on the A23 between Pease Pottage and Handcross while Highways Agency teams check the road for faults.
The closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am for four nights from Monday (January 12) while the teams check the surface for any work which may need to be carried out and plan for future maintenance.
There will also be overnight lane closures on the M23 northbound between junction 9 (Gatwick) and junction 8 (M25, Crabhill), while embankment repair work is carried out.
The lanes will be closed from 9pm-5am, Monday to Friday until January 30.
Overnight resurfacing work will see lane closures southbound on the same stretch of road between 8pm and 6am, until Friday January 16.
A spokesman for the Highways Agency said the work could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
