Staff at the hospital, which is run by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, decorated the sports hall with national flags and patients and visitors were treated to a delicious variety of dishes and shared recipes from countries around the world.

Hospital administrator, Jane Low, said: “We wanted to celebrate the 18 different cultures of people working at Langley Green Hospital to bring everyone together and have a social occasion. Lots of staff, patients and visitors dropped in including Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, who we have close links with and our chief executive Colm Donaghy. The patients really enjoyed the day; it made a change for them to do something a bit different.”

Clinical director Dr Mihaela Bucur, added: “One patient approached me during the event and shared her heartfelt views and thanks for organising such a unique and special event where patients and staff celebrated together the cultural diversity at Langley Green and honoured what makes us who we are.”

Patients, hospital staff and visitors left their mark in the form of colourful handprints on a white canvass mural, which will be displayed in the reception area.
