Last chance to see gambolling lambs at Yapton farm

SPRING is even more special at a Yapton farm this year '“ it will be the last time families will be able to visit to see the new-born lambs there.

Pat Stancomb is holding her final Hobbs Farm open weekend at lambing time on March 18 and 19, after years of welcoming families to see the annual miracle of new life.

"I'm too old to look after all these buildings, the animals, the school visits, charity functions and open days. I'm a pensioner now, so I will be finding homes for my animals, and then going on what my grand-daughter calls a senior gap year."

But before then, she is still holding her Easter crafts week and another farm open weekend in August.

Admission to the lambing open weekend is 2.50, and free for very small children. Parking is signposted from the A259 south of Yapton, and from the middle of the village, and visitors will be taken to the farm on a trailer pulled by a tractor.

As well as the lambs, there will be cows, sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, horses and donkeys to see, and cream teas to enjoy.

The farm will be open both days from 2pm-5pm.

Bookings are now being taken for the Easter crafts week, for children aged eight and over, so telephone 01243 583958.
